Wawasee Lake. Swimming, Fishing, Camping, Boating. Wawasee is the largest natural lake in the state at over 3,000 acres. There is one public launch ramp maintained by the Indiana DNR on the South shore of the lake just off Fish Hatchery Road. Wawasee is a great lake but can be very crowded on the weekends. There is an on-water Fourth of July fireworks show every year as well as a "boat-in-worship" service for boaters each Sunday during the Summer. Both Syracuse and Wawasee Lakes are situated just East of State Road 13 in Northern Indiana in the Town of Syracuse

Among the most notable are Fourth of July weekend festivities including the Wawasee Flotilla - a colorful and dazzling display of lighted boats - and the spectacular fireworks display which take place on both Lake Wawasee and Syracuse Lake during Fourth of July festivities.
Lake Wawasee also hosts the state-owned Wawasee Family Fishing Site. Located on the southeast shores, opportunities to fish, picnic and relax in the outdoors await you. Several local marinas are available who charge a nominal fee to use their private boat ramps. Boaters enjoy the convenience of five lakeside marinas for supplies, fuel, boat repairs and maintenance. You can rent a fishing boat, pontoon boat, or jet skis at several locations on the lake.
As the lake freezes completely over almost every winter, year-round residents enjoy snowmobiling, ice fishing, and ice boating during the winter months.
The lake has 25 miles of shoreline with over 1000 lakefront homes and condos. Additional homes are located on the channel waterways which have access to the lake.
