Geneva Lake Boating
Southwest of Milwaukee, Geneva Lake, Wisconsin, is the state’s second largest lake. As such, it is a very popular boating and fishing lake often referred to as “The Hamptons of the Midwest”. Lake Geneva is the name of the resort city at Geneva Lake. The lake measures about 142 feet deep, has about 20 miles of shoreline, and is 3 miles at the widest area.
There are many historical and beautiful mansions around the lake, which are viewed best on a tour boat.
Boating and water activities abound at Geneva Lake, and boats and other water sports equipment may be rented or purchased at many locations around the lake area.
Among the various water activities are sightseeing boat tours, private charters, parasailing, sailing, fishing, and water skiing. There are also several very good golf courses in the lake areas, and several spas. Many hotels, motels and cabin rentals are available, and campgrounds for those who wish to ‘rough it’.
Sales and rentals of boats, including ski boats, pontoons, waverunners, canoes, kayaks, sport boats, power boats, cruisers, and yachts can be found at a multitude of boat dealers in the area. Moorings and launches, as well as boat repair services are available.
There are also marinas for boat docking, storage and pier service and many of them also sell new and used boats. Five beaches offer excellent swimming.
Fishing is superb on Geneva Lake, with Walleye, Northern Pike, Bass (Small Mouth, Large Mouth, and White), and Trout (Lake, Rainbow and Brown) in plentitude in the crystal clear spring-fed water. Fishing guide services provide not only a guide to the best fishing, but also will rent boats.
